November 19, 2024 Trip to Tsumagoi Village

A Japanese serow I encountered on the way back to Tsumagoi Village from Jigokudani Monkey Park. The photo above was taken at PENTAX K-1II & D FA150-450. The two black and white photos were taken with a PENTAX MZ-S & Sigma APO 500/f4.5 & ILFORD HP5 A serow we encountered later in the evening in Tsumagoi Village. PENTAX K-1II & D FA150-450

Aobato come from the mountain to the sea

Aobato come from the mountain to the sea in several groups.

And They lands on the rocks of the coast.

They come to drink the seawater in the hollow of the rock. The nuts and fruits of the Aobato feed contain little salt, and it is said that it may be used to make up for it.

Sometimes they are hit by waves.
